[About Nico Nico Douga]
Nico Nico Douga is the largest video and live-streaming social networking website in Japan. It has gained a large membership. It now has more than 25,500,000 members (As of July 2011). The site is very popular especially with the young generation. About two third of the members are in their teens and twenties. More than two out of three people in their twenties have the website account in Japan. Nico Nico Douga also has the English and Taiwanese editions.

[About the Videos in Dance Category]
There are seven categories and 30 sub-categories on Nico Nico Douga. Many amateur dance performers post their videos in the dance category called "Odottemita." There are about 60,000 videos posted so far in this category. The site holds a big dance event called Nico Nico D@nce M@ster twice a year gathering dance performers who become popular on the website.

[About Dance Performers on This Blog]
Frankly speaking, the performance level of the dancers in the videos on this blog is probably not high at all by the Western street dance standard. Most dancers don't seem to have proper dance training. They are not professional either. Still, there is some kinds of cuteness shown in their performances, which characterizes the core of today's Japanese sub-culture. In other words, their main purpose is to show their dances not in a sexy way but in a cute way. On this blog, I only chose young female performers since I like them a lot and I think they represent the "kawaii" (cute)-ness to the utmost extent. (I'd also like to note that they usually dance wearing shorts or underskirt under their miniskirt so that the underwear is not seen.)

Most videos on  this blog are also uploaded on YouTube. I put links on each video to the same one uploaded on Nico Nico.com (Nico Nico Douga's English website) so that one can log on with one's facebook account and watch the video same as the original one uploaded on Nico Nico Douga in Japan. I also made the list of my blog posts in a magazine style on my Scoop.it! page. I hope the videos would make you smile and happy.

Minka Lee is one of the most popular performers on Nico Nico Douga in its early days. She started to post her dancing videos in December 2008. She once joined an idol dance unit called Danceroid. She still posts videos today. Below are my favorite ones.
